Dr. Winston grew up the youngest of six children in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He graduated from Weslaco High School in 1993 and then attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Animal Science in 1997. After undergraduate studies, he was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University and completed his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2001. After graduation, he practiced back in South Texas before heading to Austin in 2003. Dr. Winston founded Village Veterinary Hospital in 2007.
Dr. Winston is a proud father of a daughter and a new born son. His wife, Joslin, works for a local non-profit for the homeless in Austin, Mobile Loaves, and Fishes, and Dr. Winston actively participates in taking care of the resident animals of Community First! Village.
When he isn’t working, Dr. Winston is an avid photographer, outdoorsman, and wishes he had more time to spend fly fishing the coast. Aviation is also a passion of his, having earned his pilots license when he was 18.
He shares his home with Guen, a black lab, and Bumper, a rescue Golden Retriever. Stone, an elderly Maine Coon cat, allows Dr. Winston to live in his house.
